How to Use the FURICANE: A Step-by-Step Guide

Some messes need more than suction. Think deeply embedded dog hair in car carpet, sand ground into floor mats, or crumbs wedged into seat seams. That's exactly why we built the FURICANE.

The FURICANE combines three things in one tool: compressed air, vacuum suction, and the Fur Eel Pro II. The Fur Eel loosens and lifts debris, the air knocks it loose and into the air, and the vacuum carries it away, all in one motion. No switching between an air gun, a brush, and a vacuum nozzle.

Here's how to get set up and get the most out of it.

What's in the box

Your FURICANE kit includes:

  • The FURICANE tool with an air button valve
  • A 360-degree swivel air connection
  • A Fur Eel Pro II pet hair and debris remover
  • A 14-inch x 1.5-inch heavy-duty Velcro strap

What you'll need

  • A vacuum hose with a 1.5-inch inside diameter or a 1.25-inch outside diameter. (Not sure about yours? Buff Brite has adapters for nearly every hose size.)
  • A compressed air supply with an air hose. Important: don't exceed 150 PSI.

Step 1: Attach the FURICANE to your vacuum hose

Slide the FURICANE onto the end of your vacuum hose. Make sure it's on snug so you don't lose suction. If it's loose or doesn't fit, grab the right adapter before you start. A good seal makes a big difference.

Step 2: Connect your air hose

Quick-couple your air hose to the FURICANE's 360-degree swivel air inlet. The swivel lets the air hose move freely while you work, so you're not fighting a kinked line every time you change direction.

Step 3: Strap the hoses together

Use the included 14-inch heavy-duty Velcro strap to hold the air hose tight against the vacuum hose. It sounds like a small thing, but it keeps both hoses moving together as one, which makes the whole setup way easier to handle.

Step 4: Turn on your vacuum

Fire up the vacuum first so suction is running before you add air. That way, anything the air loosens has somewhere to go right away instead of blowing around.

Step 5: Work the surface with the Fur Eel

Place the Fur Eel against the surface you're cleaning and work it in steady strokes. The Fur Eel's polymeric silicone teeth grip and lift embedded hair and debris out of the fibers.

A few tips:

  • Use short, overlapping strokes so you don't miss spots.
  • Let the tool do the work. You don't need to press hard.
  • Start at the top and work down on seats and furniture, so loosened debris falls onto areas you haven't hit yet.

Step 6: Add air with the trigger

Press the air button as you go. On the FURICANE 2, the trigger sits underneath the tool, so it's easy to press. The burst of air separates hair and particles and lifts them so the vacuum can grab them instantly.

Agitate, blow, suck it away, all in one smooth pass. This is where the FURICANE really shines on stubborn stuff like sand in carpet or hair buried deep in a car seat.

Step 7: Check your work and repeat

Look at the area from a couple of angles. Hit stubborn spots again with a few extra passes from different directions. When you're done, turn off the air, shut down the vacuum, and empty the canister so you're ready for next time.

Where to use it

The FURICANE handles a lot more than pet hair. Buff Brite lists it for:

  • Seats, carpets, mats, stairs, and upholstery
  • Pet hair, sand, grass, crumbs, and general interior buildup
  • Dry and wet vacuuming
  • Pad cleaning
  • Interior blow-out work and tight-area detailing
  • Shop clean-up

Why it's built the way it is

The FURICANE has no internal frictional moving parts, so there's no spinning turbine assembly to wear out or fail. That also means lower air use and much quieter operation than traditional air tools. The body is built to stand up to serious shop use, whether you're a pro detailer or someone who just really loves a clean SUV.

Version 2 also got a more ergonomic design to fit any size hand, plus that easier-to-reach trigger underneath.

Quick troubleshooting

  • Weak suction? Check the fit between the tool and your hose. A loose connection leaks air. An adapter might help.
  • Air hose getting in the way? Readjust the Velcro strap so the hoses stay snug together.
